Free eBook Death of a Doll MakerAuthor I.J. Parker – Z55z.co

I can t wait to read the next book. Another great addition to the Akitada series This time Akitada is off to Kyushu leaving Tamako and the family at home in the capital He is charged with a special mission to investigate suspected illegal activities in and around the port of Hakata Once again, he encounters a hostile environment in the port city, corruption, murder andThe writing, as always is excellent and the characters true to past novels I highly recommend this entire series. The latest in the Akitada series features just the guys Akitada and his faithful investigative retainers on a journey to Kyushu, where he takes over the governorship of Chikuzen, as well as a secret mission All the wives and children are left back home, and contact is only through rare, and brief letters Against that back drop, feeling a bit lonely, adrift, and anxious about the pregnant Tamako, the men try to solve a series of murders, beginning with a doll maker. The writing, as usu The latest in the Akitada series features just the guys Akitada and his faithful investigative retainers on a journey to Kyushu, where he takes over the governorship of Chikuzen, as well as a secret mission All the wives and children are left back home, and contact is only through rare, and brief letters Against that back drop, feeling a bit lonely, adrift, and anxious about the pregnant Tamako, the men try to solve a series of murders, beginning with a doll maker. The writing, as usual for the author, is really crisp and clear it flows so well it s a true pleasure to just keep turning pages, completely immersed in the fabulous world The environment and trappings all seem really authentic She does her research very well Sherlock Holmes meets Shogun Might be the best way to describe this Sugawara Akitada series written by IJ Parker Death of the Dollmaker is the eleventh book in the historical mystery series I binged the first ten years ago, and just finished this one having forgotten how terrific they are Akitada is a high ranking Japanese governor who has an amazing talent for solving murders Not only are the novels rich with history, but the characters are real and flawed My favorite is Tora who is the Sherlock Holmes meets Shogun Might be the best way to describe this Sugawara Akitada series written by IJ Parker Death of the Dollmaker is the eleventh book in the historical mystery series I binged the first ten years ago, and just finished this one having forgotten how terrific they are Akitada is a high ranking Japanese governor who has an amazing talent for solving murders Not only are the novels rich with history, but the characters are real and flawed My favorite is Tora who is the Dr Watson to Akitada Just try one and you too will be hooked An unexpected and dubious promotion sends Akitada to Kyushu, an outpost where illegal trade with China breeds treason and murder Leaving behind his family, he faces obstruction and hostility at his new post and learns his predecessor, a man of expensive tastes, has disappeared under suspicious circumstances As Tora and Saburo delve into the underworld of Hakata, Akitada tracks a ruthless traitor The brutal murder of the Chinese wife of a doll maker sets into motion events that leave a trail of bodies Akitada and his retainers get assigned to a distant province where they find that all is not well and that strange things are afoot An interesting adventure and intriguing case for Akitada, but a little lacking in the detail and suspense of earlier novels in the series A worthwhile and enjoyable read nonetheless, with a shocker of an ending. Getting a little formulaic, but Parker still manages to draw a compelling picture of like in Medieval Japan.
